I think it's a novel idea to look for malware without the system running. I have three anti virus programs tha only work while the computer is on and the stick found a new one. It cleaned up some bits of uninstalled programs that would not go away.
It locked up first time I used it and the support helped me thu that. Just ran it again and it worked.
