Review of Mayflower Tours

I wasn't a customer of Mayflower Tours, but I was ...

I wasn't a customer of Mayflower Tours, but I was an employee of one of the hotels used by this tour group. I just have to say that I am appalled by the way this company does buisiness. I work as a bellman and I live primarily on tips. I can't count on every person I encounter to know this so I have to work hard for every dollar I make. When a tour group comes in this is especially true simply because of the volume of bags all at once. One good thing about tour groups is that the cost of porterage is built in and I can count on being paid for my hard work. Not so in this case. For whatever reason, Mayflower Tours refused to pay for porterage at my hotel. Now, I know there is alot of controversy these days about tipping. I agree that it has gotten a little out of control and tips should not be assumed, but I worked really hard for an agreed upon price. When my paycheck comes to me I count on at least the tour groups to be represented there. This week all I got was a diminished check and the explanation of 'Mayflower is refusing to pay porterage'. The thing is, I know that the cost of porterage is built into the packages that Mayflower sells. I can understand if one person had an issue there might have to be a reduction in price for that one person. By refusing to pay the whole thing, I'm left to try and figure out how I'm going to pay my electric bill. Meanwhile, I bet all those people who booked that tour did not see their two dollars refunded to them, but someone got that money. Way to stick it to the little guy Mayflower.
