Hans Ravensbergen Review of Restaurant Kasteel Erenstein
The hotel where you actually stay and breakfast is...
The hotel where you actually stay and breakfast is Hotel Brughof, not Castle Erenstein. Dinner is only served in the castle. If you have reserved there. Unfortunately, this is where the wrongly published expectation begins. Brughof is originally a farm from 1713 and since 1983 a hotel, which now falls under Fletcher. An old building with a ditto look and sober but sufficiently furnished rooms. Our room already lacked coffee maker, minibar and safe. Dinner at the castle arrangement was a drama. Location and entourage are very beautiful. The wait staff did not fit in this evening. The three waitresses for a total of 24 guests looked stressed. That started upon entry. We were 5 five minutes early but were sent out with a sharp tone. Consequence of the shifts due to the corona measures. But more followed. The main course supplements indicated on the menu were not served ("No, this is the main course, there is nothing included"). No new clean glass was placed when re-ordering special beer. When the wait staff was kindly alerted, an annoying discussion followed with the clearly stressed waitress ("You have a glass, right?" Was the most foul and snide comment that evening). The question to a waitress about whether she really enjoys the work was answered coolly and negatively. Body language betrayed the opposite. She was just not crying. When asked if I could speak to the chief, there was a negative response: "No, there isn't one" (although it turned out to be there later). Furthermore, the wait staff was invisible during dinner. People walked from kitchen to table and back with a grumpy face. Immediately after dinner at the hotel at the reception suggested a improvement. It was picked up very professionally and handled satisfactorily. Hearing and rebuttal eventually led to apologies and a reduction of the bill. No, I do not recommend this Fletcher.
