Dave Onuschak Review of The Breezes Resort & Spa

Most of the people who work here are very nice to interact with. However, there are items someone planning their stay here should be aware of. If you plan any early mornings and want to get to sleep before 12, make sure to request a room facing away from the pool. The house band plays until 11 or 12 each night and is very loud. In a room facing the pool, sleep is very difficult while the band is playing. Housekeeping is just plain inept. Every day during our 7 night stay, they would take our towels and not leave any replacements. We had to keep calling and wait an hour on average. Any hotel knows if you take towels, you leave replacements. It's just common sense. If they don't have enough supply, please order some more. Housekeeping also uses a very strange smelling floor cleaner that makes the whole room smell like a musty locker room. I've been in multiple locations in the Caribbean and have never had this problem. The pool towels need to be returned by 7 each night, which is fine. However, the resort chooses to treat the pools with chemicals nightly between 6 and 7 with no warning. Why they cannot wait until after 7 when the towels need to be returned is beyond me. My wife and I were swimming in the pool for 10 minutes until a worker came over to say he had treated the pool. When I asked why there was no sign, he told me since the chemicals wear off after one hour, no sign was needed and he was looking out for people. Well, he missed us for 10 minutes. And based on the amount of chemical I saw them use on future nights, I seriously doubt the one hour timeframe. Also, since they do this every night, 365 days a year, I think a sign would be a good investment for the resort. The bartenders are nice and attentive, but with one exception. One of the evening bartenders tries to ply you with more alcohol after repeated requests for just water. I appreciate them trying to be friendly with the guests, but after repeated requests for just water, the line I'm sorry, we ran out of water and Are you sure? loses any amusement. Be sure to leave plenty of time when checking out and leaving for the airport. Several written descriptions about express checkouts and needing dinner reservations are outdated, but the staff keeps parroting Just ignore that. What type of resort would not spend the money to print updated forms?
If you want a cheaper all-inclusive, go for it. The cabana rentals are a very good deal if you like shade while on the beach. Just be prepared and go with realistic expectations.
