Stacey M Review of YMCA Camp Cullen

As a parent who depends on sending their kids to the YMCA Camp Cullen on a payment plan, which is submitted a year in advance, I am truly DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED with the staff at Camp Cullen. Don't get me wrong, the kids have a GREAT time here, but the back office is completely disorganized and has made this year's experience a nightmare for me. What I thought was bought and paid for through automatic billing which should have ended in May 2016 or slightly earlier, apparently was never processed. I received no e-mail, phone call, snail mail or even a notification when I dropped my kids off at camp. Instead, someone put in a notice into the Y system saying I owed almost $1K. The Y I attend for work out is not affiliated with YMCA Camp Cullen so they did not understand how the notice was showing up in the system and could not help me set up a payment plan since, as most parents, I don't have an extra $1K to spend in a month. Hence, the reason for auto billing. I called Camp Cullen on Monday, July 4th. The lady running the computer could not set up a payment plan for me and told me I had to talk with Mish the executive director. Mish called me and said the Houston office would have to override the system because apparently, since I show I am past due (reminder, I signed the kids up July of 2015 so they had a year to bill me) they could do nothing until the Houston office opened on Tuesday. I provided both my office and cell phone number to do my part in rectifying the situation. It is now Thursday and I have yet to receive a phone call. I just called Camp Cullen again and had to retell the whole story to someone different. To say I'm frustrated is too small a description. I will not sign my kids up again unless I have payment in full available, so that means there is a slim to no chance of ever coming back and the sad part is, the kids truly like this camp.
