I was in the Edmonton store June 2nd. I had been there a year ago to ask questions and was impressed, this time I was ready to purchase so I came in with a drawing and list of what I needed, and was set on pressure treated for many reasons. I was dealing with the sales manager and he tried to upsell me to composite decking, which alone would cost more than my entire project. He would not give up on that. He also tried to sell me a lot of products I don't need like screw piles, and was very condescending about the fact that I'm an engineer.

He said I should expect a quote June 5th, and never have received one. The sales manager lost a sale and many referrals because he couldn't listen to what I wanted. I even had a rough cut list, so the quote was easy to do. I was dead set on buying from the deck store, but I will be purchasing from another store that has treated me like a human. Don't bother with The Deck Store. Believe the reviews.

UPDATE: After my initial review, the store manager contacted me and attempted to make it right. He eventually gave me a quote and offered a discount. In the end I was happy with his service, but still disappointed in the whole experience overall. Even with a discount, their product was more expensive than the store I finally decided to go with (and they treated me like a human from the start). I'd be willing to give The Deck Store another chance, but it depends who you get as an associate. I still don't like that they don't give you individual pricing on deck packages, they just give you a total price instead of breaking it down into a per-board or per-item price. This makes it very difficult to compare to the pricing from other stores. Overall, the deck store is fine, but for me there are better options around the city.
