My mother does not have a computer nor is she familiar with writing online reviews. I am submitting this on her behalf. This is her experience and the words she wrote about being in Prison Without Bars at this facility:
I spent 10 days of my life in a horrible place because I suffer from depression. I am an 85 year old woman. I did a really stupid thing. I took an overdose of pills. I say stupid because I have a wonderful family. I have a good husband, good adult children, wonderful grandchildren and 5 great grand-children. I spent a few days in a hospital and then I was transferred to another facility which was Mercy medical Center in Rockville Center NY.
I was like a prisoner there. We did not have beds. We had a mattress over a plastic box. We never had hot food. Our food was always cold.
We had no dignity there, we felt like prisoners.
I felt like the staff there was not helpful. I have very bad arthritis so it wasn t easy for me to open some of the food containers.
There was one nurse there who was pretty decent. Her name was Antoinette.
There was a male patient who was not in his right mind. He thought he was a fighter. He attacked another patient. I did not feel safe there with this man around.
I think if I had to stay there any longer, I would have gone into a deeper depression. I was on floor K3.
I m upset because as a practicing Catholic to know that this facility is under CHS (Catholic Health Services)
Jesus told Peter feed my lambs . I ask Jesus watch over my lambs
All the people on K3 need someone to speak for them. They need someone to make a change.
