Disappointing so far. I just checked into this place. My first impression as I saw the outside as I exited Penn Station was that this hotel has the best location in New York City! It's so close to many of the things I want to do over the next week. The lobby is beautiful and impressive. But that's where things started to go bad.
The check-in process was unpleasant. The girl at the front desk was so unfriendly. It was a slow night and nobody in line. She didn't take 5 seconds to greet me with a hello. "Last name? Swipe your card." We're not robots. After traveling all day to get here, it would have been nice to see a smiling face and exchange pleasantries.
I booked two rooms for 7 nights each on the same reservation. The $2500 was all paid for by my credit card in one transaction. She wouldn't allow me to check into my other room because I put my guests name on it. My friends' flight from Australia was delayed and they won't arrive until almost midnight. I wanted to make sure our rooms were close together and she refused to even look into it. "I can't guarantee anything." The rooms are supposed to be the upgraded Penn 5000 rooms, but you wouldn't know it by looking at it. The beds are cheap and sag in the middle. It certainly doesn't look as nice as the room in their website pictures. I can't help but feel deceived.
Would give one star if it weren't for the amazing location. I'm here for a week, so we'll see if anything warrants adding or subtracting a star by then.
