While I have MUCH to say, I will have to wait to share the majority at a later date. I will share this for the time being though; the staff (physician and RN) we dealt with the night of 11/4 and morning of 11/5/16 are in need of some serious sensitivity training. Upon receiving a phone call at 3:50 in the morning, the RN in charge of my mother's care identified himself then non nonchalantly said, "Your mom passed." As I was in utter shock, it was the middle of the night and this was COMPLETELY unexpected, I confusedly yelled, "What???" To which he repeated without an ounce of care, "Your mom passed." As I cried out in disbelief and said, "I was just there a few hours ago!" he responded with a chuckle. A chuckle!!! This, by far, is the worst possible way ANYONE should ever learn of their loved one's death. I am angry beyond words and outraged at the TOTAL lack of compassion provided. How difficult would it have been to start with a simple, "I am so sorry to have to tell you..."? NEVER in my life will I send another loved one to Soin Medical Center nor will I ever recommend them to ANYONE, not even my worst enemy. I will forever live with the guilt of stupidly leaving my mother alone in their "care."
