I enrolled in Lone Star College Transportation Institute to get my CDL so I could start my new career. The enrollment process was simple and affordable, I opted for the 6 week program. Not knowing what to expect because this was all brand new to me, I was somewhat nervous on my first day. The staff and instructors were very polite, helpful and knowledgeable. My instructor was Will Billy Chapman and he was awesome! Billy would take the time and have the patience to answer any questions and help me along the way. The equipment and trucks we used for training were top notch. I had never driven a tractor truck before, but with the guidance and instruction I received from Billy, I had it down in no time at all. I was amazed at how much information we had to know to obtain a CDL license. We spent many days and nights on the yard practicing our pre-trip inspections, doing backing drills and just learning to drive a tractor truck. It was a great experience and I made a few good friends along the way. I highly recommend Lone Star College Transportation Institute, it was a great learning experience. Was the class and training easy? No, but they give you all the resources, training and instruction you will need to succeed so you can obtain your CDL. They even had recruiters from many different transportation companies come in and speak to our class. I studied and practiced and when the big day came to go do our driving test, I really felt like I was prepared. Billy drove us to the testing site and was very encouraging along the way. I was the first out of our group to test and to say I was nervous is an understatement. I just focused and remembered what I was taught and I am happy to say I passed all of the test on my first attempt. I was so excited and when I got out of the truck and Billy was standing there waiting and he was the very first person to congratulate me. I started a trucking job shortly after getting my license and it s now been almost 2 years and I m still driving my truck and enjoying my new career. Great job Lone Star!
