I have been to the one in Blue Springs and Independence. The people assisting others are kind and compassionate about helping others. Not only do they pass out food but, take the time to make someone feel special and not just a number on a sticker. I received so much food for just one person, that I came home and divided it up among my aging neighbors, who no longer get out. They were thrilled and very thankful! I have never received any spoiled food or milk. Most dates on packaged food expired within 1-2 months. How awesome is that? I have been to food pantries where people were given dented canned food that was expired and a health hazard. Just because a person is in "need" doesn't mean they deserve something less. Harvesters doesn't do this, thankfully! I have since moved home to Alabama and hope to introduce this way of "helping the community" to the governor of our state, in hopes to better assist the people of Alabama, who would otherwise, do without.
