I've been to the track for two years of Formula On...

I've been to the track for two years of Formula One and a weekend of HPDE February of 2016.

Initially we saw the track in 2012 for F1, so the facilities were slightly incomplete. Only the main lot was paved. We sat at turn 12 and shuttled from a gravel lot miles away. Traffic management in and out of the traffic was also abysmal.

We returned for the F1 in 2013 and it was great to see all the updates. More lots paved, better transportation in and out of the track. More shuttles, more carts, etc. There were also more vendors and concessions.

We did not return for the fuel limited V6 era of F1, but I had the opportunity to drive the track February 2016. The corner workers, safety stewards and the rest of the track staff were excellent. They worked swiftly to make sure we could maximize time on track. Everyone actually seemed to enjoy working at CoTA.

The garages are well maintained and the bathrooms were cleaned between return visits over the 3 day event.

The actual track is wonderful, over the few years it has developed some interesting character. The braking zone into turn 11 has actually developed some bumps, so brake modulation to avoid ABS is mandatory. The same occurs near the carousel. All the run offs and kerbs are smooth enough for F1 cars (FIA SPEC)
