Okay first off the nordik spa is absolutely amazin...

Okay first off the nordik spa is absolutely amazing. I've been here before with my friends and I had a blast then I brought my husband back for a romantic getaway we've just gotten married this past year and we wanted something that was perfect for a couple to do on a cold weekend. Right from the get-go make sure you get there between the hours of 9 to 10 or you may not be able to get in right away. I had known this because I called in advance and asked how we will be able to secure a spot. If you do want to get a massage as well as the thermal experience be sure to book this far in advance as well there are no spots left for us and unfortunately but we still had an awesome time with a thermal experience.

Be sure to bring your own flip flops, robe and water bottle if you see fit. They do not provide these free of charge. You have to purchase flip flops for $10 and the robe is a $25 fee just to rent it. We didn't notice at first so we had to purchase some flip flops from the Boutique that they had there thank God. The last thing you want to do just be walking around barefoot in the snow and ice and salt. It can get really slippery I would not suggest the nordik for anyone who's not able to walk up several flights of stairs as well as look where they're going. It's a beautiful place but it can be a little treacherous if you're not physically fit. Be sure to hold the railings tight when getting in and out of the pools I saw a few people tripping. They do I sit pretty well but still since people are getting in and out of the tubs the salt tends to get diluted. However it wasn't a problem for us we are pretty careful.

We had a wonderful experience with dancers during the aufguss traditional sauna experience. This experience involved the infusion of essential oils while dancers waved towels around and immersed us with sents. It was a wonderful social experience and very relaxing.

The only downfall to our experiences at the aromatic saunas were not up and running. However the eucalyptus and orange rooms were functional so we went in there as well. I would just like to know that those rooms can get really slippery and you can't really see where you're going so be extra careful because it is a highly steam room.

The kalla? Room is an extra charge it is a floating salt bathroom. We didn't do it this time but I certainly want to try it the next time I go. I've heard really good things about it but can't comment on it myself.

The clothes were heated perfectly and made us comfortable and even -20 weather. It's best to go when it's really cold because you feel the experience much more.

The highlights of our spot experience where the meditation rooms & the infinity pool. The meditation room was pitch black at night except for the fire which was really calming. It also had its own Musical soundtrack which really helped you reflect. Although I wish people were a little more quiet they do say silence during these rooms.

The infinity stop pool overlooks the Gatineau and it's absolutely stunning. At night time the night crowd comes out and it becomes a really romantic and fun experience. The pool steam is illuminated by the lights and it almost feels like you're in the middle of the ocean.

Overall we absolutely love nordik Spa my hubby drove 5 hours into Ottawa and he said it was totally worth the drive just to experience it! :) Thank you to all the wonderful staff who were very friendly and accommodating. They even came around with free tea. It was really nice especially since it was a super cold day that we went! If you are feeling generally run down sick or exhausted the spa is a perfect way to reignite yourself. A wonderful way to start our new year together :-)
