Esselunga is perhaps the best in large-scale distribution, especially foodstuffs, in Italy. The staff is selected, trained and constantly updated. The assortment is very vast, even in organic, and the products are always fresh. The via Ripamonti superstore is the largest in Milan. A saleswoman told me that the founder, Caprotti, considered this store to be his flagship and was very often present among the public. After his death, I don't think anything has changed: I shop a couple of times a week and I always find the same high level as always.
