This really should be a five-star review. The hotel was nearly perfect. However, one thing it offers that helps differentiate it from others in the area is a rooftop bar with a pool. On 8/17, the pool was drained for "maintenance," and as is typical in my experiences, this was not noted anywhere ahead of booking. Perhaps it's a bit childish, but a rooftop cocktail and swim with my fiance was one of the reasons I was drawn to this hotel. So, we pay a $28.75 resort fee (the scam of the hotel industry) and the one amenity I wanted to use was unavailable. That's enough to bring it down to a four-star review since I was unaware of this at time of booking.

Beyond the pool situation - the staff was very friendly and accommodating, offered us a complimentary upgrade to a suite for my fiance's birthday, the bellman was pleasant and helpful, and our stay was wonderful. The bathroom in the suite is pretty standard and not quite as upscale as the rest of the suite, but the suite itself is excellent, very spacious, very nice great views. Hotel is in a good location to get wherever in Boston - public garden, Fenway Park, North End, etc. Perfectly located.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, and if swimming on the rooftop is of interest and important to you, call before booking to be sure the pool is accesible.
