The D&R railroad was an incredibly scenic (albeit quite long) train ride. Never made it to Silverton as I was dropped of for backpacking and picked up later in the week. Concession cart was stocked with snacks and drinks (Beer too!) and the views from the locomotive were incredible. If you're considering taking the trip and dont mind sitting for 3 hours I definitely recommend it. The train moves slow, probably 15mph max, the open air gondola was nice, though prepared to be hit with some soot from the coal burning steam powered beast!
