St Julien is a gorgeous hotel resort and spa that lives up to every standard one would expect from a premier property in a travel destination such as Boulder. I m writing this review from the perspective of a person who typically cannot afford to reserve rooms like these except for the very rare occasion a landmark anniversary or birthday. This was a special surprise to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and I am so grateful to the staff of St Julien for the care and attention each employee demonstrated from our reservation process to check-out (and even beyond!). Upon arrival, the valets immediately jumped into action and were upon some of the friendliest I ve come across. One of them, David and, hey, I remember this man s name two months later, demonstrating how extraordinary his commitment is to the hotel s guest experience was so kind and full of information about the area as well as the history of the hotel and its owner. He asked us how our drive was, if there was anywhere we might like to visit while in Boulder, etc. I mean, we pulled up in our well-traveled 2012 Nissan Juke (not exactly the luxury car those valets must frequently see here), and these employees treated us like we were royalty. This is the sort of opening experience that makes or breaks a hotel s appeal, so I hope management will acknowledge jobs well done. The gentleman who checked us in was equally helpful and engaging, offering water and assistance, etc. I wish I could remember his name. He greeted us each time we exited and entered and invited us to enjoy the hotel s complimentary wine event that evening. The singular and just slightly derogatory aspect of the stay, and I only mention this for anyone who might have health issues or the inability to walk long distances and not because it would be a deterrent for most, is the epic length of hallway navigation between the elevator and the opposite end of the hotel. If you are traveling with someone who requires assistance, mention this when you book your accommodations. Otherwise, I m positive this staff can assist. When we entered our room, the staff had surprised us with an anniversary card and an array of gourmet chocolates. Very appreciated! The floor-to-ceiling curtains were drawn to reveal one of the most impressively largest balconies I ve seen in a modern hotel s room. The desk had a real plant a succulent, which is always nice instead of the typical faux arrangements offered in many hotels. The smart TV displayed a message greeting us by name. The bar was stocked with many options, including liquor, local beers, champagne, juices, full-sized wine bottles and splits, and non-alcoholic beverages. Our bedside tables also included locally-made dark chocolate truffles. Aside from the balcony s view and walking proximity to more unique restaurants and shopping than anyone could possibly enjoy in a month s trip, the spa-style bath in our room at St Julien, as well as its accompanying toiletries and thoughtful amenities, was perhaps the most impressive and memorable of any I ve enjoyed ever. In my life. This feature brought the hotel s spa directly into our room. A separate toilet closet also added to the privacy of this area, and I enjoyed using the large vanity as well. Unfortunately, I cannot speak for any of the hotel s in-house dining rooms, bar areas, shops, or salon/spa, but I feel confident I will return to enjoy them upon a future, celebratory occasion. Many thanks to the staff of St Julien Hotel & Spa for creating the most ideal canvas for our trip. I have recommended your hotel to our family and friends from Colorado Springs to Dallas!
