I went to Rockford for the 5 day detox. I was addicted to opiates. I hated my time at the center. It felt as if I was in jail. During the day we were not allowed into our rooms to lay down even though mostly everyone was going through extreme pain. All doors were locked at all times and all 40 of us were confined to one small day room. The groups were a joke because no one seemed to care at all. The communication at Rockford between the staff counselors and my family members was HORRIBLE. My family didn't receive one single phone call the whole stay about my recovery. They told me I had to select an aftercare program which was fine with me so I told them to contact my family to see what we can affor . They never called them and signed me up for a very expensive program which I did not agree to. The doctors never contacted them as they are supposed to so my family knows what's going on. They somehow billed my family for the stay out of pocket even though we wanted to go through my insurance and now we are stuck with very large bills. Other than that they had a courtyard that was fenced in with 18 foot high walls for us to go outside and get some fresh air... But we were not allowed outside at all. Everyone in the program was about 21-65 years old and they treated us like babies. I went there thinking I would be getting help and feel very comfortable and relaxed during my stay. But it was the complete opposite. Do not go here unless you absolutely have to.
