Another great SD family spot, the Birch Aquarium is a small aquarium, but one that hosts some impressive and fascinating species. A family membership is affordable, and provides a great option for sunny or rainy days alike. This is one of the must-have memberships for families in SD, along with the SD Zoo/Safari Park, Living Coast Discovery Center, and SD Botanical Garden. You probably won't spend more than a couple of hours here, but with its location in La Jolla, right next to UCSD, there are many other attractions and food options that you can bookend onto the trip.
