Claire-Frances Sullivan Review of Fairstead

I've lived in my building for coming on 3 years now. It used to be owned and operated by a single landlord with a wonderful live-in super. Ever since Fairstead bought the building, it has been an absolute nightmare to live in. First we went without gas for 9 months, and when Fairstead finally paid to fix it, it became invested with cockroaches due to the lengthy and invasive construction. Then, the construction continued as they began to renovate the empty units of a well-deserved mass exodus from the building, and several times the ceiling of our apartment fell in due to negligence in oversight from leaks, bad plumbing jobs, and an overall unresponsiveness to the needs of their tenants. They cut corners in every way. The only time we can get a response from the management company due to unlivable situations is when we threaten to withhold rent or call 311. We've received threatening letters, emails, and phone calls from Fairstead management due to an accounting error on their end, where they didn't take the rent concession IN OUR LEASE out of their records, a mistake on their part that was held above our heads when trying to maintain livable conditions in our home. We've lived with caved-in ceilings, roaches, and a broken washer/dryer and toilet for weeks and months now, even after taking legal action against Fairstead for their unwillingness to provide for their tenants. I will never live in a building owned by Fairstead EVER again, and no one else should either, if they can avoid it. Cannot recommend these leeches of a management company less.
