The Eiffel Tower is the landmark of Paris, France at Champ De Mars. It was constructed to commemorate the centenary of the France Revolution. It was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. The tower was constructed between 1887 - 89. It is the global icon of France. The tower is 1063 ft tall and it's base is 410 ft in ceah side. The tower has 3 levels for the visitors with restaurants at 1st and 2nd level.Tickets to be purchased to access the tower. There are provision of lift and stair to climb the tower. To prevent rust the tower is being painted every seven year and it requires 60 tons of paints. More than 7 million people visit the tower every year. First and second level of the tower are wheel chair accessible.There are 5 billion lights for the illumination of the tower. The tower is illuminated from sun set to 23.00 hour every hour for 10 minutes. The timing of lighting vary slightly during summer and winter. The view of Paris city in the evening from the top of the tower is marvellous.
