The path you have to walk to get to the park is beautiful, peaceful, full of nature, and truly enjoyable. However, the park itself, the place where you can see the monkeys is quite underwhelming. The best way I could describe it is "tourist trap". The onsen (hot spring) is man-made; there's a river nearby, and you can see all the pipes that feed the hot spring running along the river. The place is incredibly crowded with tourists, which clearly upsets some of the monkeys.
