I am writing this review to make sure people choose this place when going to Costa Rica. This resort is located on the west side of Costa Rica on the Pacific. It took about 45 minutes to get here from Liberia airport. I am traveling with my almost 14 yar old son. As we entered the gated resort area we were instantly taken by the immaculate grounds and beautiful landscape. Our room was not ready and this was the only issue at all - an extremely minor one. In fact the woman saw I was with my son and suggested if we were willing to stay in one room that night and switch the next day that she could get us closer to everything (pool, most restaurants and activities as well as the beach). So we agreed and are so happy we did! The room is a junior suite and is great. Two beds, a couch, table, mini fridge, tv, patio, etc. Very clean as well. Only thing I found a bit odd was there was no door on the bathroom. Only a frosted glass door on the shower and toilet. A little issue if you want privacy but we were ok with it. The staff here is as good as it gets. Beyond friendly and accommodating. Everyone genuinely seems happy to see you and go out of the way to make sure you have anything you need. Special thanks to Cinthia the hostess. On our first night we had no reservations to any restaurant (note that as soon as you get here, make reservations to each of the different restaurants. All are excellent and worth a visit but book up quickly). We walked in to the Latin restaurant and she got us a table. We then saw her almost every day. Each time she greeted us with a huge smile and asked us how we were doing, what we were doing, how our day was going and if we needed anything. Just a pleasant, sweet person who made us feel welcome. Everyone here is also like that too.
Since this resort is huge you will most likely take one of the many shuttles buzzing around. We didn't always because the grounds are worth walking around. There are exotic birds, butterflies, lizards (one huge one that chills by the stores every day), monkeys, cats and wildlife all over. The pool is fresh water and just massive. The swim up bar is great and there are some ping pong and pool tables as well as other games available. There is direct beach access too. Right on Playa Conchal. You'll get hit with vendors but they're polite and if you just say no gracias you'll be fine. I purchased some gifts and my son and I each got a 1 hour massage for only $20 each! I wasn't going to until I met a couple on the resort who did and loved it. Well worth it in my opinion and my son's!
If you plan on doing anything like jet skis or ATV (we did) go find Erik Garcia on the beach (I added a pic of him with me and my son) . He will hook you up for a fraction of the cost of most. Nice local person who knows Costa Rica. We also booked an excursion (Buena Vista Mega Combo) and a snorkel trip through the Costco desk they have on site here at the hotel. I'll review separately but WELL worth it. Note that if you plan on excursions - as you should - they will be anywhere from a short bus ride to four hours on a bus one way. And expect to pay $$$ for some of them. If you just plan on hanging around the resort the whole time, you will not be disappointed. Plenty to do, see, eat and drink. There is even a bar with TVs to watch some sports too.
So overall I can say it doesn't get much better than this resort. Food is excellent, accommodations are first rate and the staff is world class. They even called my room a few times just to see how we were doing. Come and visit. You won't be disappointed. I will miss it here!
One last thing - learn the phrase "Pura Vida" when they ask you how you are doing!
