I was a patient at Atlanta Medical Center for 13 days, July 2013.

For three days I was in ICU ( 5 STARS.) Bottom Line, they saved my life. Dr. Miriam Parker and her staff of student physicians and most of the Nurses in ICU, I cant say enough in praise about them.

HOWEVER, One late night/early morning in ICU, I had an awful nurse - Shannon. She had to clean me up and she made me feel so awful and ashamed. Doctors thought I had a stoke and when I was trying to say something to her, and she told me something to the effect of - "until I can speak to where she can understand, she can do nothing for me". It was awful. It was the middle of the night. I did not have my phone to call my family. I was afraid. I was even afraid to tell the Doctors what was happening to me, because they would leave and I would still have to deal with her. But I told the Doctors and they IMMEDIATELY removed her from caring for me.

Out of ICU... a different situation altogether. While the Doctors are excellent. The infrastructure is lacking. One time I called for assistance to use the restroom - no one came. I ended up urinating on myself. It was 2 hours and 20 minutes before someone came to see about me. Luckily, I was mobile enough to clean myself up and change my gown etc., but it was still 2 hours, 20 minutes.

The workers there really try to provide service with the little they have, but it is a challenge.

What is really sad, I wrote a letter to the hospice administration detailing my experience. NEVER HEARD A WORD FROM ANYONE AFFILIATED WITH THE HOSPITAL.
