Samuel Boias Review of HCA Rockford Center
Horrible, horrible place. I got better "treatment"...
Horrible, horrible place. I got better "treatment" from fellow patients than from the staff. You never see your doctor, despite the claim that you "meet with them every day": in fact, my doctor told me herself that it counted as a meeting as long as the doctor approaches you and asks how you're doing, regardless of the setting. Very unprofessional. I was placed here after a suicide attempt, because this was the only available hospital with experience with my particular needs (I'm pre-everything transgender) -- and while I commend most of the staff on their respect for my pronoun preferences and interest in learning more about trans issues, the social worker and doctor made no effort to focus on this aspect of my so-called treatment. I specifically told them the reason I was there was because of intolerance within my household, and that I required post-discharge housing. What did they do? They ignored this and sent me back home, despite my telling them again and again that I would be at risk again if they did so. Basically, I was browbeaten until I agreed to go back to my house. So now I'm in the same place I was before, emotionally-speaking. Waste of time and money. If you have a choice in the matter, do not go to Rockford or send your loved ones there.
