To visit the Louvre you need time and have a clear idea what it is you want to visit. Let's be realistic, the Louvre Museum is enormous, in no way you'll be able to see it all in one day. Unless its one this "been there visits". Do some research about the current and permanent exhibitions beforehand and then go for what you want. The building itself deserves admiration and dedication, every time I've visited the Louvre I'm amazed again and again that most of the visitors just rush through the magnificent rooms, or walk the intriguing floors without really noticing them, because they are to busy reaching the joconda, Mona Lisa...
All the exhibition are stunning, so is the edifice. Take your time and enjoy. Do book your entrance through the Internet if you want to avoid extra long queues...
