De Walvisvaarder is a pleasant hotel. The breakfast buffet is well cared for. The welcome three course dinner was tasty with a tomato soup and a delicious salad buffet that made me very happy. Unlike many a restaurant there was more than enough vegetables available. Tasty meat with boiled vegetables and French fries. Add a chocolate sauce. The suite on the ground floor was spacious with luxury, like a bathtub with bubbles, separate shower cabin, a hair dryer, a TV in the seating area and a TV above the bed, a mini fridge and kettle. Spacious seating comfort and a good bed. At the front and back of the suite was a seat on the porch, looking at the courtyard and the land with horse. The cleaning service was great and the staff friendly.
A little less was the fact that the suite was somewhat dark. The whirlpool that was not used began to take on a life of its own. A red light blinked, there was a lot of noise and the only explanation was the spirit of an old sailor. The complex has a long history. The blinking stopped spontaneously and did not disturb us afterwards. The bikes were fine with 7 gears. All in all a nice experience and good starting point for many a bike and walking tour.
