My daughter surprised me with tickets to Romeo and Juliet (one of our favorites) for my birthday!! What a sweet, thoughtful, AMAZING girl!!! The show was good and had a twist (setting/time) to it so it wasn't exactly everything you're used to.
Mercutio was my ABSLOUTE FAVORITE and was AMAZING in the role!! He balanced being incredibly funny and brave yet emotionally wounded and scarred. He also portrayed an entertaining, bold Mercutio whose trust and exceeding loyalty doomed him to his totally tragic fate. Mercutio was AMAZING!!! He was my favorite actor in this production bc he took a truly difficult role that is so multifaceted and made it seamless and an ABSOLUTE JOY to watch!!! AMAZING Job, Mercutio! And Benvolio did a wonderful job as well. Romeo and Juliet did well, too, and their love seemed genuine. Juliet did wonderfully in portraying the old Shakespearean writing as fresh, current, and easy for all of the audience to be able to glean what she was saying by her facial expressions, hand gestures, and pauses. And I absolutely adored Juliet's Nurse as well!!! She reminded me of the nurse in the 1996 Baz Luhrmann adaptation. She was great!! Really great show overall!!! Checked all the boxes for a great Romeo and Juliet!!! Great performance and wonderful cast!!!
