Sam Anders is not your typical used car salesman. ...

Sam Anders is not your typical used car salesman. He's worst than that. The car we were looking at was already sold through a dealer trade. Since we wanted it, they called up the other dealer to ask if they could sell it to me. The other dealer says it was ok since they hadn't sold it yet. The other salesman disclosed all this to me.

I stated a price that was $2k below what they were asking. Instead of countering my offer Sam replies with "So you don't want to pay taxes and fees?" I respond back saying taxes are not in our control but you can adjust the sale price of the car and drop the $500 for nitrogen filled tires. Again, instead of giving a counter offer he goes on to argue about not not paying the doc fees and taxes. I repeated that you can adjust the car price. I came up $500, so that was $1,500 less than asking price, but he again doesn't counter my offer at all. I was hoping he would at least come down $500. He then ends the negotiation.

So based on this it seems to me that they were trying to see if I would take the car off their hands at full asking price. If I don't buy the car they loose nothing because the other dealer would still be taking the car if it didn't sell. Sam never once countered my offer. If he was serious about selling it to me he would have come down at least $500. This is my second experience with Sam. We bought a Honda Odyssey from him back in 2014. I paid full asking price back then, but not this time. He was just as brash back then as he was today. We have been taking our Odyssey to Hendrick Honda for all maintenance issue, but no more.
