In 2015 I had a great experience with Gateway Chevrolet in 2018 it was a wreck (pun intended). At the end of May 2018 I got into a car accident in a vehicle I previously purchased at Gateway Chevrolet and had a 0% interest rate. My credit isn't that great now due to a couple of long term job losses in my family. I went to the dealership to get my GAP insurance information (Which they actually gave me the wrong company and phone number and not a copy of my contract it took 3 weeks to find th right company). I explained my situation to the finance guy and he said "Let's run your credit and see what we can do". He ran it and said he could help me and asked "What is important in a car for you?" I said "I need space, I have a large family" he told me to go check out the Chevy Trax which I have never heard of. He told the sales man Kevin "Go show her the Trax LS". I remember specifically the "LS" part I looked at it. It has updated features, was brand new, had partial leather seating, push to touch start, actual wheels and not hub caps, an outlet in the back and CRUISE CONTROL and felt similar in space to my Malibu so I felt okay about it. I went back to Jimmy and said sure go for it (I thought this was the car I was getting). He sent me home to wait for a approval. Got a call about an hour later with the approval. He gave me 4 color options. I went down to the dealership to sign for it and looked at the car I thought was the model I was getting. Saw the dark grey and told Kevin (sales man) that I wanted that one. I was then informed that it was not the model I was approved for and took me back out and he showed me the basic model and I wasn't happy with it. I told him this. He said "Well this is what you were approved for and with your situation there isn't anything we can do" (Seriously???) I felt tricked and grateful at the same time and was overall confused. So I chose the silver one..........They said "well this car needs to be repaired for a AC issue (It's brand new but was used as a loaner vehicle) they also lowered the price a little. I was so stupid. I signed the papers without seeing it because I felt I had no options but still glad I could get a vehicle. I got my car 6 days later. I got in it and instantly hated it. I felt like gateway was doing me a favor but they tricked me into a car that I ended up hating because I was initially shown a higher model. The one I got doesn't even have cruise control. I needed cruise control. The one I was shown had everything I needed and now I get into a car every day that I hate because I was made to feel like I had no other options. I would have rather gotten into a 2-3 year old Malibu than this car. It barely fits anything in the back space. Not even as much as my Malibu trunk. So thank you for talking me into a car and then last minute tell me I couldn't have that one or let alone giving me another option. I was a repeat customer and feel betrayed. I think they call this a bait and switch.
