I love all the negative reviews.. Almost as good of a laugh as the sugar free gummy bears reviews on amazon!! I worked at LRA for several years and can honestly say that the students are treated very fairly. When students are belligerent and physically aggressive, they are dealt with in the most respectful and humane ways possible. At the same time, there must be elements of discipline and consequences when students act violently. Clearly, the staff will not allow a student to cause harm to themselves, another students, staff or property, and sometimes are forced to use physical means of intervention to stop destructive behavior. When students act responsibly and make an effort to achieve their treatment goals, they are greatly rewarded. Even minimal effort will afford students many privileges including most all things kids do at home. ie, video games, TV, ipod, social activities, junk food, off campus trips to concerts, movies, fairs, etc.. The point though is they MUST earn those things through appropriate behavior. Anyone who says their kid was abused or mistreated is simply misinformed. If you don't want your kid to learn how to properly function in society DON"T SEND THEM TO TREATMENT!! Plain and simple. Logan River Academy is a fantastic facility, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone whose kids struggle with behavior and/or drug problems, or anything like that.
