Rob Buyher Review of The Park Vista a Doubletree by...
Amazing views, nice place.
Amazing views, nice place.
Despite being an old building (I stayed here in 1982 for the World's Fair in Knoxville when it was a Ramada) it's held up well. The elevators are suitably fast. I think the A/C in the room was not working properly but the weather was so nice that we kept the balcony door open all the time anyways so we never really noticed.
The only complaints I have is that 1) the wireless was hit or miss at best (fortunately there's Verizon 3G mobile hotspot!) and
2) the breakfast buffet was overpriced at best (but then so is most everything else in town) and several items that should have been hot (or at least warm) were not.
All of that said, it's a nice place. The views from the upper floors are spectacular. It's far enough away from "the strip" to be quiet and close enough to be only minutes away from everything. As a previous poster commented, the road leading to the hotel is very steep. I can see it being a real challenge in the winter and covered with ice/snow unless it's regularly sanded. Wet is no problem it rained a few times while we were there and didn't seem slick at all.
