I ll start off by saying that I think it s commendable that this place finds care for nursing kittens. Me and my boyfriend were taking a walk in the park when we came across a litter of kittens by their mom s dead body. We took the kittens home, and we went to pets mart to get them formula and bottles. We were informed by pets mart employees and by internet research how much work was involved in taking care of nursing kittens. We couldn t always be home 24/7 to give them the care they needed at the time. I wanted to find the kittens the care they needed so I did some research, and Acct philly seemed like the best place to take them. I was told that when I brought the kittens to acct that they would go to a foster parent. The day after I brought the kittens there I called to check on the status of them. I was informed that they all went to a foster parent, and the subject of adoption came up for when the kittens weren t nursing anymore. I know that sometimes foster parents don t always keep the animals they foster and if that were the case that I d be interested in adopting two of them. From then on the adoptions coordinator remained in touch with me and the foster mom, and I was told she was interested in giving the cats up for adoption. The last conversation I had with the adoptions coordinator was that everything was in the process of being finalized for me adopting the kittens. She said that I could adopt them once they were neutered and spayed and that the foster mom had requested that I reach out to her on Facebook, and she provided me with her name. I sent the foster parent a friend request and a message explaining who I was and who referred me to her. She initially accepted my friend request but didn t respond to my message, and shortly after I noticed that she blocked me. I emailed the adoptions coordinator and let her know that it looked as though the foster mom blocked me and that I wanted to know whether that meant I was still adopting the kittens or not. I never heard from the adoptions coordinator after that. I understand that the kittens legally belong to the foster parent and that she has every right to not give the kittens up for adoption, and she has the right to choose who she allows to adopt them. Whatever problem the foster mom had with me adopting the kittens isn t my issue. My issue is that I was told the kittens were going to be mine to adopt, and then I was abruptly blocked and not given a response by the adoptions coordinator. For all the adoptions coordinator knew I could have already been out buying things for the kittens. I feel she could have at least responded by letting me know that the foster parent decided to go in a different direction and an apology for any inconvenience this may have caused me. I m happy acct philly found the kittens the care they needed. I hope the foster mom ended up keeping them all considering ideally I would rather them not be separated. Maybe I just wasn t meant to adopt the kittens, but regardless I feel that acct philly was blatantly unprofessional towards me, and professionalism towards potential customers is something that they could definitely work to improve.
