The building's original name was 'Music Dome'. Ziggo, a provider of cable television and telecommunications in the Netherlands, was attracted as a naming sponsor during the preparations for construction in 2009. This was striking as the Ziggo Dome was located in the middle of the catchment area of the other major cable company, UPC. As of April 13, 2015, the UPC brand name ceased to exist, and Ziggo merged with UPC.
