We have had experience with Central Hospital for many many years, over the past 13 in particular with our wonderful pup. I am actually quite saddened to see low ratings on this site (and am sorry that some people felt they did not have a good experience) - emergency veterinary medicine is in no way an easy venture, and despite this we have always found everyone to be dedicated, responsive, and kind. These folks work HARD. I know that it is an issue in the veterinary world that when a pet is lost, in their pain people often try to place blame (and yes, errors in both human and veterinary medicine do occur), and that often falls to the very people who have been tasked with the animal s care in an emergency. While that is a normal human response, it is unfortunate. Veterinarians feel the loss of their patients, too. Having just lost our beloved dog, there is nothing that will ever take away that heartache. Throughout his life, with competing medical problems, we always felt our dog was given thoughtful and exemplary care at Central. Yes, it was costly (even with pet insurance), but if we are fortunate enough as humans to have health insurance, we may be shielded from some of those upfront costs (though many people aren t) and don t feel the impact quite the same way as we do with our animal companion s care.

We extend our eternal thanks to the cardiac and internal medicine teams, and to every employee who helped us get through this painful time with great kindness, and who also made sure our dog got the care he needed over the years.

One suggestion - when we went to pick up his remains, we were made to stand at the front desk with others who were there for emergency appointments. It might be a good idea to have folks in a similar situation be brought to a separate room, as it was a very emotional situation.
