The last time we visited the Riverwalk, we stayed ...

The last time we visited the Riverwalk, we stayed at a different hotel across the river from The Omni La Mansion del Rio (which loosely translates to Inflamed Prostate on the River .

I remember looking across and saying we should try the Omni next time . So we did. About the same price and overall good ratings, so why not.

The first shocker was the $50 per day Valet parking. You can park for 75% less across the street, choice is yours. Check-in was quick between 3-4pm, I couldn t make out the whole tattoo across the chest of the girl at the counter, but I m guessing it had something go do with living my best life while swiping my card.

Although we booked via our CC travel service, there were no additional perks with the Omni La Mansion. The river view king room with a shared balcony (literally sharing 4 chairs w 3 other rooms). They aren t all like this, but of course ours was.

The room itself is dark and mysterious. Heavy dark curtains, the obligatory chair/desk w 70s glass top, 32 TV (with $20 movie rentals) and mini-bar. If William Travis and Davy Crockett stayed at a hotel before the battle of the Alamo, I m guessing this was it. After stepping outside on the patio (a view of a large tree for us) we did notice the room very musty and humid. More so than the rest of the hotel.

The bathroom has a small footprint, short ceiling and of course ours had a wooden door that scraped the floor the last 12 so at least everyone on our floor knew we were doing our business.

There was no privacy please placard to hang on the door, but the false fire alarm at 6:30am bellowing exit the building and the smoke alarms ringing got us up early enough to miss the morning housekeeping routine, along with my weekly 2.5 minutes of stress relief. Thanks Mr Vape on the 4th floor.

As long as we were up, we might as well take advantage of the $25 per person breakfast buffet (Disney characters and coffee not included, sorry).

Next time we book a stay on the Riverwalk, it won t be here, just too nostalgic for my tastes.
