We are Sounders Season ticket holders. A friend of my 6 year old daughter's bought her a clear St. Patrick's Day fanny pack to use at games. This evening as we entered the game security forced us to choose between throwing in the garbage her CLEAR fanny pack or not entering the game. She was in tears. I am BEYOND disappointed in the inappropriateness the staff showed in handling a 6 year old girl and a clear fanny pack that is clearly within the published stadium guidelines. We are incredibly supportive of safety. Her grandfather is a retired police officer so we are respectful of policies. I am not supportive of ineffective and illogical enforcement of "safety policies" that do not actually exist. I am also highly suspect that the resolution of the situation would have been different if my daughter was not mixed race and my husband (also her father) was not black. This is discrimination and is unacceptable. I am disappointed in the Sounders and the Stadium. I will seriously consider whether we will continue to support either organization. We have been season ticket holders for 9 seasons.
