My mom was hospitalized at Alexian Brothers Medical Center for 3 months prior to passing away from cancer. What can I say? We experienced wonderful care during a hopeless time. Most of the medical professionals we encountered were knowledgeable, kind, empathic- people that I will remember for the rest of my life. Yes, some were cold and uninterested, but I guess that's life, some people serve others and others work to collect a paycheck. My mom has been gone for more than 3 years now. Her death continues to be a devastating blow to my family. I recollect the days and nights she spent hospitalized, and in my saddness I find a bit of joy and gratitude for the care she received during the last months of her life.
