The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, founded in 1861. It is a world-class institution. The institute has many senior scientists such as Norbert Wiener. Its main mission is to teach and research in the practical applications of science and technology. The institute is divided into five schools and one college with 34 academic and 53 laboratories. The Institute played a major role in the engineering of biomedicine and in the development of computers and in navigation devices used in missiles and spacecraft. It has 10,000 students of various nationalities. The Institute's 960-member faculty is renowned for its excellence and excellence in advanced technical research and applications, with 85 of them receiving the Nobel Prize.
