Review of TOYOTA CARLSBAD

Well I thought they were trying to rip me off. Too...

Well I thought they were trying to rip me off. Took my Tacoma in due to an issue with the steering. That cost me new tires (existing tires were 40K miles on them) and an alignment (I didn t think the alignment was an issue but I ll give them the benefit of the doubt.) I requested a few times if it was necessary for all four tires and alignment. I explained that the economic situation has hit my pocket book and anything they could hold off on would be welcome.

They insisted it be done and I agreed and paid my $1,700.

Upon completion they called me back and explained that they had found a Heavy Oil leak coming from the right valve cover. They went on to state that the mechanic doesn t recommend taking it off the lot. By now my BS detector was up as I ve not noticed an oil leak and I check under the hood often and run a diagnostic scan every 6 mos.

My check engine light has never been on & so I asked what it would cost to fix? Answer: it will be $578.90 to remove valve cover and inspect. Not sure what the cost of the fix is.

Long story short, just took to another mechanic who I have had repair my cars for 32 years. I should have gone to him in the first place but my original thought was the Tacoma had an issue that they d fixed before on a recall. He inspected the valve cover, said there is a slight seap of oil, showed him the Toyota report and his answer was they tried to rip you off.

Nice work, Toyota Carlsbad. Let me guess your service techs/ writers are on commission? This is how you treat a loyal Toyota customer of 30+ years?
