DC Jazz Fest. Chucho Valdez and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. Piano viturocity times two.
Program was from the CD "Trance"...extended improvisation and new charts.
I suspect that many expected a recital of traditional Latin-jazz, but both men have grown beyond that. They had the opportunity to perform original works in their unique Cuban style.
The encore, 'Caravan' gave the audience something to grasp, and they did enthusiastically. A great show!
