My father in law was discharged yesterday. They were going to send him home in a taxi. I'm thankful that my sister in law was able to be there and bring him home, because I was working, and my husband was unavailable. What if we were not home? He was absolutely miserable here. More nurses were rude and rough with him than kind and gentle. The times that I went to visit a woman kept screaming for help in the room next to his, and no one had any sense of urgency to help her. His room was always a mess. Diapers on the counter, dirty sheets and it seemed like they never changed his socks. At one point a family friend, who is like a daughter to him, went to see him and there were dried feces on his leg and socks. He was sent to the hospital twice and they did not inform us. They lied and said he was still there when he was at Swedish. We know this because a nurse from Swedish had just called us. I called this morning to ask about his medication, (it has changed since he left) and what time he should take it, and the nurse was extremely rude to me. Like I was disrupting her break. I do understand that this is hard work, and long hours, but being rude and treating people like a number is unacceptable in this line of work. I'm thankful he is home and I wish he never had to go here. Please do not, I repeat, do NOT send your family members here. If you have family here, get them out now. These people do not care and should not be in this line of work when they do not have a compassionate bone in their body. We have already contacted the proper authorities to investigate this so-called nursing home.
