Judy McCoppin Review of NWH

I had my first baby there back in January so I honestly wasn't sure what to expect as a first time mom.
My contractions started 1/5 at around 3 AM. Nothing too bad. As the day went on they were getting stronger but as a precaution, I called my OBGYN's office and I was told to go to the hospital since I was timing them and they were fairly close together.
My husband and I checked-in around noon. We didn't wait very long for a Friday afternoon. They hooked me up the the monitor and sure enough I was in early labor. Once I was checked more throughly, they determined I was only 1 CM. I was told I could be like this for hours or days but to just keep breathing. They also told me I would "just know" and they sent me back home. We were really sad at this point and I was in pretty bad pain.
Hours go by and I'm basically laboring at home because I was fearful of being sent home again. Finally at 4 AM on 1/6, my pain was so awful, my husband called my Dr.
and luckily she was working that shift so she said to come in.
Now if you're unaware, the hospital's West Wing is closed until 7 AM so you have to enter through the East Wing where the ER is located. So my husband walks me through the door to sit me down and NOT a single soul was working the ER desk. After parking the car, he tried calling out for someone, crickets. He tried looking for a wheelchair, NOPE. I had to pretty much crawl my way to the West Wing's elevator to go all the way up to the fifth floor.
Once we got checked in again, I couldn't sit still to check the baby's heartbeat on the monitor so they just decided to check me and I was 8 CM!
I asked for an epidural and was pretty delusional at this time. I never ended up getting it because I couldn't sit still for the life of me.
The Labor and Deliver nurses were really awesome for the 3 hours that I had them, which includes labor and post partum care.
After the baby was here, they tried forcing me to use formula because my baby wasn't "big enough". They made me pump, which is a big no-no the first few weeks. They also kept pricking my baby's foot which I thought was a sugar test, no, it was to test for Jaundice.
Some PP care nurses were really great and helpful. Others not so much.
On our day of check-out, no one helped us or rode me in a wheelchair like you see in the movies. My husband carried the car seat and I had to push the HUGE cart with all our belongings because double parking is pretty terrible in the West Wing.
All in all, if I were to have another child, I will most likely not deliver here.
