I was admitted to emergency on June 29th 2017. I fainted, from this new medication I was on, and fell down a flight of stairs. Long story short, I went to my follow up today, with Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Goytan. The (very kind) assistant, Tanis, told me I would be seeing Dr. Goytan to fill out my GWL forms. GWL is an insurance company, and I understand their job is to "get rid of me". At first, I thought, "who the heck is this? I thought Dr. Goytan was seeing me?". This man had the bedside manner of a nurse! And one of the best nurses I'd ever seen! Not just one of the top rated Orthopedic Surgeons in Canada. (And from reviews, I believe THE best in Manitoba. After he showed me my x-rays, and said "This is what I...." I realized it really was the Doc. I cried. I cried because it has been an awful ordeal for me and to have my actual surgeon be so freaking KIND, was more than I ever expected. To anyone who has gone through something as horrible as near death, I truly hope you experience the kindness of a doctor that actually performed the life-saving surgery. He is truly one of those doctors that may have reached the top of his profession, but it is so very obvious that he is still here for the same reason he got into his job, studied hard, paid his tuition, and CARES so much...his original reason, to help, is beyond obvious!!!!.
