Took my 2yr old daughter to the emergency room for a substantial laceration to her hand. Before bringing her in we were able to stop the bleeding and wrap the wound properly with an emergency kit we had at home. Our daughter is very well behaved in public places and was excellent in the waiting room. This apparently was our problem. My wife and I watched countless other patients called in ahead of us, even those who checked in after us. After 3 hours of waiting we decided to leave. Lesson learned. I'm confident if she remained crying and I kept the original bloody wraps on her she would have been seen. I understand hospitals can get busy, however any respectable operation should notify clients/patients of a realistic wait time. I'm a father of 3 and therefore have enough emergency room knowledge to validate this experience.
