It's been a long time since I last spent any duration here, but I still remember it to this day. My mother and myself stayed here during my visits to the BC Children's Hospital when I was a young child and a young teenager. I do remember the rooms not being all that special in appearance or in quality of service, but for a kid going through a potentially traumatic experience at a hospital, it makes all the difference in the world. Being able to feel comfort from the surgeries, the time spent isolated, the anesthetics, the numbness, the bandages and the healing, the fear of potentially never waking up again because of an honest mistake or fatal allergic reaction to pain medication, that's what matters to a child.

Especially a disabled child. One who just wants to be home and wants to be around the one person who would always be by the child's side. Easter Seals house, in the two (or maybe three? I don't remember much of my early childhood aside from the visits to the aforementioned hospital) occasions where I could get away from the scariness of the hospital (yes, even the Children's Hospital can frighten a child) and be with the one person who has ever supported me in life, was special just for the reasons I wrote. It may not be of high quality; it may not earn any accolades as a hotel (or whatever you'd classify it as), but for the people it serves it can make the difference.

I also have a lot to thank Lion's Club. They, as well as other sponsors, helped tremendously, including by providing this location for children with disabilities such as my younger self. Groups like these should always get support.
