I spent 7 summers of my childhood as a camper at Echo Lake and, so far, I ve had the pleasure of returning on staff for an additional 5 summers. My fondest summer memories are those spent with friends that I made at camp, because CEL is a place where anyone is given the opportunity to wave their own flag, be who they want to be, and feel accepted and loved by those around them.
My summers as a camper were spent exploring a wide breadth of activities, while my time on staff brought offered the opportunity of working with campers of all ages. As a kid, I did all the classic camp activities: soccer, canoeing, and music. Nevertheless, CEL gave me the opportunity to try things I had never even dreamed of doing before, like lacrosse, archery, and even a few theater productions! I tried new, healthy foods and learned how to resolve conflicts on my own! Over my summers as a staff member, camp has given me the chance to work with campers as young as 9 and as old as 15. I gained skills working on a team in a fun, enjoyable work environment surrounded by others who share my love of camp.
The hallmark of the Echo Lake experience is the core values of human development that transcend time and age. Anyone who has ever spent time at camp learns that everything is about Attitude, Attitude, Attitude, and the way how you approach a situation. CEL does a terrific job of crafting children into competent, independent, and responsible young adults. I highly recommend sending your children to CEL or coming to work here yourself, you truly will have the summer of a lifetime!
