We planned to come out to Neenah from Manitowoc to go specifically to this establishment after looking online and reviewing what this shelter had to offer. The puppies that we looked at in the shelter were not in the photo's that we saw online, and I was told that they were just brought in. After our initial visit with Aspen, My family and I fell in love with her immediately. I went out to get an application and asked if there were any other applicants. Otherwise I would not have even put in the effort. I was told there was not. I felt very excited when they said that they would get back to us the same day or by Monday at the latest. I called my references and told them to be ready for a call and that I was trying to adopt my granddaughter. When I tell them what happenned I know they will feel as heartbroken as I was.

I decided to call them back just a few hours later to find out if there was any progress made on my application. It was then I was told that they were SO busy that they had to make an "immediate decision" for an adoption and that the puppy we wanted was getting ready to leave with her new family. I was so upset that I cried. I told them that I was the first applicant and didn't understand why mine was overlooked to which they responded "it does not go on a first come first serve basis." This seemed very suspicious to me. I did not believe a word the staff person was saying to me. The least they could have done was call to inform me that we were not the chosen candidates for the puppy. Instead, they proceeded to feed me lies and excuses at an attempt to cover their butts for unjustifiably overlooking my application . I did not appreciate the run around, and was eventually offered to speak to a supervisor. I accepted and waited on hold for minutes just to be told that the supervisor was too "busy" to speak with me but not busy enough to make an immediate decision on a adoption.

For being the Humane Association, they are not very Humane with regards to the human heart. I don't understand why they had to make a rush decision on someone else's application but they so easily overlooked mine. I decided to drop my application all together. I am very disappointed with this establishment and I intend to tell everyone I know not to go to the Fox Valley Humane Association. I hope that they will do the same. I don't want anyone to ever have to experience what I went through. I lost my pet of 18 years and was finally ready to love another only to have my heart broken over careless and poor operating procedures. Someone needs to pay attention and do something about this. Very unprofessional and rude. I believe strongly in that old saying, what goes around, comes around. You can't treat people like this and it not come back to you, I will leave it at that. For your own sakes I would never set foot in this establishment. Take heed of all the other disatisfied adopters who, when you read it, all went through a similar situation. Hopefully this establishment will be closed down for their heartless acts. You have to realize that you deal with Humanity also. It also has the word Humane. I am sure that I will find a loving pet and that is what I have to look forward to.
