In 2008 my son was helivacted to Arrowhead regional from Apple valley with extremely critical injuries. Ruptured femoral artery, broken femur, triple compound fracture of the left leg, ruptured spleen, broken jaw on both sides, major head trauma, crushed and torn colon, a lacerated liver with internal bleeding and a severely broken left arm. By the time he was wheeled into the ER he have almost no blood in his body. The ER doctor on call that night was an internal medicine specialist and he saved my son's life. He repaired and reshaped his colon so he wouldn't have to have a colostomy bag at 17 and saved all of his other vital organs except for his spleen. After five different operations repairing all the broken bones, it was then discovered he had 100% brain damage. To make a longer story short miraculously he came out of a coma two weeks later and as of 2016 you would never know he had an accident other than the scars. There still is no medical explanation for why he is functioning normally since he had millions of mini strokesthroughout the brain in a pool of blood in the frontal lobe.. I can't say enough good things about this hospital and the entire staff in intensive care.
God bless all the doctors & nurses who took care of my son and refused to give up on him after being in a coma for so long. His insurance company wanted to take him off life support because of the time he had been in the coma but Earl had fought for us and he finally woke up. It was basically a miracle. Thank you again Arrowhead regional for saving my son's life and for all the wonderful things you do to save people's lives. I lived in your hospital for almost a month and you made me feel like family. I could never thank you enough.
