When I visited the Carter Center, I was deeply moved by exhibits on what it took for President Jimmy Carter bring Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat together in the Camp David Accords. Begin demanded that every minute detail be clear. Sadat preferred only the grand sweep of principle. Carter went back and forth between them, patiently taking notes and mediating. Since his presidency, he has continued in peacemaking. As he blessed all of us in this work, may he and his family be blessed as he battles melanoma. As Jesus said: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God."
